The ruling Liberal Party of President Benigno Aquino is certainly a big joke as regards Rene Villa, chairman of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) who allegedly received cash and campaign donations from Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged mastermind of a P10-billion “pork barrel” scam.
Villa served as Napoles’ lawyer between 2006 and 2010.
During this period, Villa must have known what Napoles was into, i.e. siphoning off government funds into ghost development projects and paying off kickbacks to corrupt senators, congressmen and officials of certain government agencies.
If Villa claims not knowing what Napoles was engaged in, this is the height of naivete, if not plain stupidity,
That Villa apparently closed his eyes to Napoles’ unholy alliance with corrupt lawmakers and government officials, while deriving compensation from her and even donations for his failed congressional bid, clearly shows his questionable ethics and frame of mind.
So, why hasn’t Liberal Party president Mar Roxas and Aquino not taken the moral high ground by removing Villa from office?
Which is more important to the Aquino administration and the Liberal party – a party member like Villa or good governance for the benefit of Pinoys in general and having officials with unblemished credentials?
